Mantua Books, the publisher of my book The Second Catastrophe, is now for sale. Mantua, is seeking to fill a niche in the Canadian publishing landscape, specifically publishing books concerning maintenance of our fundamental freedoms in the age of terrorism and the age of liberal moral relativism and other moral and ideological confusions, such as "political correctness". Some call this a "conservative" position, and others call it a "radical" position, but many authors and readers are not served by the current left/liberal bias of existing publishing companies.
For someone wishing to get into publishing, and not wishing to start from scratch, this is a good opportunity. The owner wants to see the company continue in the hands of someone with strong ideological positions and the desire to make a change in the Canadian publishing industry. For that person or persons, the price will be extremely low!
As readers of this blog know, Mantua is in litigation with Chapters/Indigo and therefore the sale will only close once that litigation is finished, and then the purchaser will change the name from Mantua to a new name, perhaps more indicative of the political ideology of the press.
There are several manuscripts for which Mantua has negotiated publishing rights (at very modest costs, i.e. a share of profits only.) Mantua has favorable terms with an Ontario printer, and the opportunity should be seen as "turn-key".
