Although I am not writing more essays at this time for my blog, I am continuing to post articles on the topics heretofore covered in my blog which my readers will no doubt find interesting.
Cyprus still has the Iranian arms ship and has not decided what to do with it yet, but query whether this is more of a distraction than anything, the same way that the Hamas War was in the long run a distraction from the point of view of Iran, to take the world's attention off its drive for nuclear capability to threaten Israel, Asia and Europe.
Nuclear weapons, as I have written before, in the hands of those who have a religious belief that using them will hasten an armageddon and spiritual redemption constitute an existential threat to Israel.
Iran's nuclear and other military ambitions must be destroyed now, before the death toll caused by the crazy Ayatollahs and their front man Ahmadinejad reaches the millions.
And oh yes - I support war when the alternative is many times worse and delay and appeasement will let the bad guys kill millions of the good guys. And yes, I believe that despite the idiocy of cultural and moral relativism, there ARE good guys and bad guys...."if you choose not to decide you still have made a choice" (Neil Peart, Rush)

Pentagon: Iran satellite launch 'cause for global concern'

Iran poses "a real threat and it is a growing threat," Reuters quoted him as saying.
Also in the report, US State Department spokesman Robert Wood was quoted as saying that the US was "gravely" concerned over the launch.
The 'Omid,' meaning hope in Persian, was sent into orbit on the order of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to mark the Islamic Republic's 30th anniversary, according to Iranian news agencies.
'Omid' was said to have been placed in the orbit by an Iranian-made 'Safir' satellite-carrier.
In Jerusalem, the head of Israel's Space Agency, Zvi Kaplan, said initial reports show that a satellite was launched. "From what I have been investigating it is true," he said.
This photo released by the Fars News Agency claims to show an Iranian satellite launching rocket named "Safir-2", translated in English as
"Ambassador-2", carrying the satellite "Omid",
or "Hope" in English photographed prior to launch at an undisclosed location on Monday.

State television reported that the 'Omid' was "intended for communicationspurposes" and would return to earth after several months of gathering information and testing equipment that "could assist Iranian experts in launching an operational satellite into space."
Iran has in the past launched satellites using rockets built by other nations, but this was the first announcement of such a launch with an all-Iranian made rocket.
In September of last year, Teheran announced that a joint research satellite built by Iran, China and Thailand, was sent into orbit by a Chinese-made rocket. At the time, Iranian officials said the three countries suffer from natural disasters and that the satellite would transmit photos to help deal with such crises.
Teheran sent its first commercial satellite into space on a Russian rocket in 2005.

To my readers:
It is not clear from this article but the head of the Israeli space agency in an interview today on the Israel Broadcasting Authority (accessible through Jerusalem Post online) made the point that it is not the satellite that is the issue; instead it is a question of whether Iran now has the rocket/missile techology to launch the satellite - if they do, then that means they also have the means to launch for now ballistic missiles at Europe, which should give Europe pause. Then, with nuclear weapons, the threat becomes more severe.
By the way, John Bolton, former U.S. ambassador to the U.N. also on I.B.A. today makes the excellent point that Europe has spent over 5 years unsuccessfully negotiating with Iran over its nuclear proliferation. Bolton dismisses Obama's ideas of further diplomacy as only being useful to the Iranians to buy more time to complete their nuclear program.
As i said recently, Obama is nutty as a fruitcake. He is standing by doing nothing while apocalyptic crazies acquire a weapon so horrible in its consequences, that someday the White House will have to be moved underground.
